Wearing a wig can be an intimidating experience. You want your new hair to look as realistic and natural as possible, but you also need to make sure that it fits correctly. The good news is that there are many ways to achieve a perfect wig measurement. Hence, in this article, we’ll discuss all the different methods of wig measurement and why they matter.

What Is the Standard Wig Size?

The standard wig size is 22 inches. This means that your head circumference should be at least 22 inches, and the measurement of your head will determine what size to buy. The standard hat size is 8-9, which is the same as a standard wig size (except for slimmer hats).

Head circumference: The first step in getting the right wig measurement is determining how broad your head needs to be in order to fit into a wig cap. You can do this by using a ruler or string to measure around the widest portion of your head; if it is at least 1 inch less than what is indicated above. Then go ahead and get flat wigs or short lengths (for people who want their hair cut off).

How Do I Know My Wig Size?

As you may have guessed, wigs are measured by their circumference. It’s a simple( wig) measurement that takes into account both the length and width of your head. If you want to know how much space your wig will take up, just measure the circumference at its widest point with a tape measure or ruler and compare it to the size chart below:

  1. 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters (circumference)
  2. 2 inches = 5 centimeters (circumference)
  3. 3 inches = 7½ centimeters (circumference)

The best way to find out your wig measurement is by measuring yourself! You can either use a tape measure or place some paper around your head and then mark where it meets with chalk. This will give us an idea of how much room we need for our new friend.

Wig Measurement

Wig measurements are not difficult to take, but they do require a certain amount of patience and attention. To get the best result possible, it’s important to follow these steps:

Step 1 – Measure Head Circumference

Measure the circumference of your head at its widest point. To do this, you will need a soft tape measure and someone to help you hold it still. The measurement should be taken in centimeters (cm).

Step 2 – Measure Front to Back

Next, you need to measure from the front to the back of your head. You can do this with a tape measure or by wrapping string around it and measuring.

Step 3 – Measure Across Forehead

Measure the forehead in a straight line from one ear to the other. Hence, if you have a receding hairline, this will be difficult to do without measuring your head with some kind of tape measure or string measure. If you use tape measures, make sure they’re an inch long so they can be used as a guide for when we get into Step 4 below.

Step 4 – Measure Over the Top

Now that you’ve measured from the top of your head to the back, it’s time to measure around your head. Measure around the circumference of your actual head, not just where it meets on one side or the other.

You’ll want to make sure that you’re measuring over the entire top of your head as well as all sides evenly. Otherwise, you could end up with a hat that doesn’t fit right.

Step 5 – Measure Around the Back

To determine the circumference of your head, wrap a soft measuring tape around it and hold it at arm’s length. The broadest section of your head should be measured here—the area where your hair grows thickest (or not). Measure from the front of your forehead down the side of your head to where you want to pull back a ponytail or braid. Remember that this is the height at which you should tie off any chignon creations afterwards.

Now that we have our measurements for front-to-back measurement done right out of the gate (and thanks again), let’s move on to nape height.

Step 6 – Measure the Nape of Your Neck

This is the back of your neck, at the base of your skull. Don’t pull too tight; you should be able to fit one finger between two fingers on this measurement. If there’s any room when you’re done measuring, then that means that either you’re wearing a wig that’s too large or it’s too long for its own good. If there’s no room at all—that is, if your measurement doesn’t extend past where two fingers can be placed together without overlapping. Then we recommend going with a shorter style.

Do I Have to Measure My Head for a Wig?

If you’re wondering if you have to measure your head for a wig, the answer is no. It can be difficult to know exactly what size wig will fit your head when you first get one. The best way to find out is by using the size chart on the packaging for that particular brand of Wigs for Women (WFW). This will give you an idea of where on the spectrum between small and large this particular style falls.

For example: If I had never bought a WFW wig before this one, I would just look at their size chart and see which one would fit me best based on my measurements (head circumference and height). But if we’re talking about something like the Elvira Adult Black Hudsucker Deluxe Costume Headpiece, one size fits most adults.

How Are Wigs Supposed to Fit?

When it comes to wigs, it’s important to make sure that they fit properly. Wigs are made of human hair and can be very sensitive, so if you have an unhealthy head or scalp, then your wigs might not fit properly. When figuring out what size headband you need for a wig, ensure that the front edge of your head is at least an inch higher than where it should rest on top. This will give you room to move without making you feel uncomfortable or irritated.

Average Wig Cap Size

The average wig cap size is 21.5″ in diameter, but can be as much as 22.75″ to 23.25″. As a general rule, the larger the head size, the larger your wig should be.

So, if you want to get an idea of how big a wig will fit you best, measure around your head where you normally wear your hair and use that measurement for some quick sizing inspiration. Keep in mind that most wigs are made with thinner fabric and therefore do not stretch out over time as much as other types of fabrics, such as satin or lace.

How Do You Properly Fit a Wig?

You need to know how to measure your head for a wig before you start. Before using a product, it’s also a good idea to read the instructions. This will help make sure that it doesn’t hurt you or make you feel bad while you wear it.

To begin measuring:

Stand upright and hold a tape measure at chin level (or as high as possible). Make sure not to have too much hair hanging down over your shoulders or behind your ears when measuring; this can cause problems later in styling! If possible, stand facing a mirror so that someone else can observe what measurements are being taken.

Why Does My Wig Bunch up in the Back?

  1. The wig is too big.
  2. The wig is not properly fitted.
  3. The wig is too heavy.
  4. The wig doesn’t have any safety or comfort features that let you adjust how it fits, like elastic bands or Velcro ties at the back of your neck and at the bottom of your head that can be used to keep the hairline in place while letting it move freely (we’ll explain why this is important).

Universal Wig Measurement

The most important thing to remember when measuring your head is that the measurements are universal. The only difference between one wig and another is the style and color.

When measuring your head, you will want to make sure that you have a tape measure that is flexible enough to fit inside your head. It should also be long enough so that it can go around the back of your head without being stretched out of shape. The tape should stretch around your entire head, including over the crown area (the top of your head).

To get the right size for your wig, measure around the circumference of your head at its widest point (usually at the back). This measurement should be in inches or centimeters, depending on what type of tape measure you use. Be sure to account for any hair loss when measuring; some people lose about an inch every year.

Summary

There are many reasons why your wig may be too big or too small. If you measure correctly, then it should fit properly. You can also look into custom wigs if the size is not right for you.
